WD Red sleeps then spins up for no apparent reason

And with the timeout built in, obviously drives are made to endure. I have a 4 TB WD Elements desktop external drive. I think this drive is set to pose downspin down after a period of non-use, correct? If so, is it possible to turn off that capability?
